One Temecula Valley PAC condemns Komrosky’s move to hire outside counsel, possibly consider firing award-winning TVUSD Superintendent
TEMECULA (Jan. 17, 2023) — In a move mirroring the actions of newly-elected, politically motivated school boards across the country, Temecula Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees President Joseph Komrosky has called for a special meeting of the TVUSD Board to consider retaining “Temporary or Specialized Counsel” and to hold a closed session conference regarding “Personnel Matters.”

It is the speculation* of One Temecula Valley PAC (1TVPAC) that Komrosky intends to discuss terminating the contract of award-winning TVUSD Superintendent Jodi McClay.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18 at either the TVUSD Conference Center, 31350 Rancho Vista Rd, Temecula, CA 92592 or Temecula Valley High School’s Performing Arts Center, 31555 Rancho Vista Road, Temecula, CA 92592. (1TVPAC will update the location of the meeting upon request)
It is the opinion of 1TVPAC that irresponsible actions such as these will create instability in a school district widely known to be one of the top school districts in the state.
“Komrosky’s call for a special meeting to consider the appointment of a special counsel and possibly the termination of Superintendent Jodi McClay is yet another move following the playbook of fringe groups in other parts of the country bent on dismantling public education in our Nation,” 1TVPAC’s Jeff Pack said. “Komrosky clearly has neither the experience in working with McClay, widely considered an excellent superintendent, nor any desire to work with the administrative team at TVUSD to further a district with an already stellar reputation.
“Why is Komrosky placing a financial burden on the district already by wanting to use special counsel to address an otherwise unknown threat or objective?
“Lastly, thousands upon thousands of families have moved to Temecula and invested heavily in homeownership in order to take advantage of our schools and school district. To see this newly-elected board begin to attempt to dismantle our schools should frighten every single resident of this community.”
1TVPAC condemns any such action against McClay and questions the legitimacy of his reasoning for spending residents tax dollars on hiring a special counsel and is calling upon the residents of Temecula and all stakeholders within TVUSD to attend this Special Meeting and voice their opposition to moves that 1TVPAC believes will undoubtedly damage the stellar reputation of a high-achieving school district for many years to come.
This kind of poor governance, which falls in line with previous board actions taken by the three newly elected trustees — Komrosky and Jen Wiersma — further proves that they are following a script provided to them by national political entities and are not acting in the best interest of our students and district.
The dismantling of our school district will undoubtedly have devastating effects on our community that will last for decades. A poorly-managed school district can ultimately have severely damaging effects on a community and economy in the form of lowered housing valuations, an inability to attract new businesses, a stunted tourism industry, all of which could take decades for the city to recover from.
Further, if TVUSD is led into chaos and instability, its ability to draw and hire quality teachers into its ranks will be destroyed for decades to come. The only losers in that scenario are our children.
We call upon all Temecula residents, business owners and TVUSD stakeholders to attend Wednesday’s meeting and push back against a board majority that is acting irresponsibly in their own personal and politically-motivated interests and are determined to destroy TVUSD’s stellar educational reputation.
