One Temecula Valley PAC disputes Congressman Darrell Issa letter

TEMECULA (July 12, 2023) — One Temecula Valley PAC (1TVPAC) was created for the purpose of promoting good governance on the part of local elected officials in Temecula Valley. Our only demand is that our local officials, who are elected to non-partisan offices, serve the whole of our local communities instead of narrow partisan interests or outside agendas.

We were surprised to learn of the blatant misinformation and politically-motivated rhetoric that was released by Congressman Darrell Issa on Monday, July 10 in response to our efforts to recall TVUSD School Board members Komrosky, Gonzalez and Wiersma for repeatedly failing to uphold their non-partisan duties to serve as good stewards of our award-winning school district.

We felt it necessary to respond to one statement in particular, in which Congressman Issa references the impending recall effort, which was initiated by a local group of mothers and endorsed and supported by One Temecula Valley PAC.

“Democrat party leaders, clearly at Newsom's direction, have organized a recall effort and are attempting to remove President Komrosky and the other conservatives on the Temecula school board….”

This statement is a blatant lie, meant to demonize and devalue a local, grassroots recall effort initiated and run entirely by Temecula residents from people of several political parties.

In no way, shape, or form have the activities of elected officials in Sacramento had any influence on our reasoning for pursuing this recall effort.

The members of One Temecula Valley PAC are Democrats, Republicans, and Independents working together to save a school district from impending destruction at the hands of this TVUSD board majority.

Congressman Issa’s partisan attempt to discredit those efforts by attributing them to anyone but concerned residents of Temecula, parents of TVUSD students, and One Temecula Valley PAC is irresponsible and insulting.

The fact that Congressman Issa is using his political campaign mailings to help further transform Temecula — a city and community he purports to “love” — into a partisan battleground, is a profound misuse of his federal office to interfere in the affairs of what is supposed to be a non-partisan school board.

“The entire reason we are in this (recall) predicament is because partisan politics have seeped into non-partisan elected seats,” One Temecula Valley PAC said. “Partisan political agendas don't belong on school boards, period.”

“One might expect Congressman Issa’s office would be proud of the fact that the constituents he represents are utilizing one of the tools of democracy here in the United States to hold our elected officials accountable for actions that violate their duties as public servants.”

“Instead, from the tone and tenor of this letter, it appears he intends to represent only those he perceives to be politically aligned with him, while smearing the very members of our community who are working tirelessly within the democratic process to promote good governance and strong schools.”

The impending recall effort is a grassroots-based endeavor by hundreds of Temecula residents that needed no guidance to recognize a politically-motivated, destructive TVUSD school board majority when it reared its ugly head.

We acted to protect our schools and community, and will continue to act, regardless of whether Congressman Issa chooses to do so.
